You Are Invited to enjoy this unusual presentation of a new and exciting techniques:
Inks and Watercolours on Yupo Paper, a unique new surface that creates amazing and colorful visual and textural effects .Join us for hors d'oeuvres and Artist Presentations Why "Dances"?...Yupo surface is impenetrable...inks and watercolours float on the top of the surface...hence it is a matter of taming the inks to lay down where the artist wants it. Therefore the inks "Dancee" on the surface. The artist Controls the Dance!!! All three artists are also dancers in their own right....here is some info on these Artists:
Olgateresa Gonzalez Baigas is a professional dancer and dance educator. She has had her own dance companies and schools in New York, Jamaica and Taos, New Mexico for over 40 years. A painter and fiber artist, running her own gallery Amparo and selling through her websites taostaos.com and fantasyisle.com. Yupo is a new and exciting technique with a mind of its own. One learns how to "tame" the pigments on this unusual surface that is not permeable: Yupo! Lois Fernandez is the Owner of Taos Artist Collective. She has a degree in fine and performing arts and studied with Joffrey ballet and Laura Dean Dance Company. Her background is also in the textile industry as a weaver and fiber artist living and studying in Greece and designing embroidery for many years in the fashion industry in NYC. Lois is painting on Yupo with watercolors.
Angela MarinariWentz From Conshohocken, PA. She worked in many mediums including wood for years and while blowing glass in Philadelphia, she and her mentor started a small glass business. After life changed her course, she began working smaller and that meant jewelry. Angela worked in silver, copper and bronze for more than a decade in and near Taos, NM. Another surprise has changed her course again and she is now revisiting a medium she first loved in art school 40 years ago. Ink. Only now the inks are brilliantly hued. Angela works all originals on Yupo because she feels it best supports her process but images can be printed on a variety of modern bases including metal and glas
